Oligodendrocyte wires neuronal axons

NG2 positive processes of a young oligodendrocyte wrap the axon of a neuron (DCX). It seems, that even under in vitro conditions the formation of a neuronal network occurs only with participation of young oligodendrocytes. Despite the close contact between oligodendrocyte and axonal ramifications both signals (red and green) remain largely separated in the confocal z-stack analysis.
